Cincinnati Children’s is proud to support a community for clinical research professionals across the institution.
Since 2000, the Clinical Research Professionals (CRP) Group has supported innovative, high-quality clinical research by facilitating knowledge exchange, providing educational opportunities and creating a sense of community among researchers.
We are committed to supporting CRP development, education and networking through:
- Career pathways and advancement opportunities, including new job roles and established processes for advancement and research certification reimbursement.
- Leadership skills, including joining and leading the CRP Group’s leadership committee or its membership, education or regulatory sub-committees.
- Research-related policies and procedures, such as sharing new regulatory guidelines and policies, promoting best practices and providing educational resources.
- Unique learning opportunities, like educational lectures featuring prominent speakers from throughout the institution and monthly educational meetings with continuing medical education (CME) credit.
CRP Group History
Research managers founded the CRP Group at Cincinnati Children’s in 2000 as a way for research professionals across the institution to connect. Since then, the group has grown into one of the largest groups at the institution and serves as an avenue to share research processes, ideas, successes and community.
Through more than two decades of collaborative efforts, the CRP Group has evolved to meet the needs of its members with efforts to disseminate knowledge and lessons learned within and beyond Cincinnati Children’s institutional walls. These efforts range from hosting educational events starting in 2008 to founding CRP Appreciation Day in 2010 to establishing a formal process for the advancement of clinical research coordinators in 2018.
The formation and evolution of the CRP Group, developed by the work of past CRP members, has fostered an innovative community that meets clinical research needs.

Founded as an avenue to share research processes, ideas, successes and community, we are dedicated to the research community and continue to evolve to meet the needs of our members. The Clinical Research Professionals Leadership Committee (CRPLC) provides leadership, structure and guidance to the broader CRP Group in achieving the CRP Group vision and mission.

Certification
The CRP Education Committee hosts on-site training sessions and clinical research certification each year at Cincinnati Children’s. Additionally, the CRPLC has a centralized reimbursement process for CRPs for costs associated with obtaining and maintaining a clinical research certification.
Continuing Education
To support professional certification maintenance, the CRP committees and Cincinnati Children’s offer continuing education for CME credit, including training courses, seminars, webinars and information on local and national conferences.
Onboarding Resources
CRP provides a centralized onboarding checklist to help CRPs identify required and recommended trainings to support skill-building and competency. This interactive checklist has customized training requirements based on job function and empowers CRPs to create and track their personalized training plan.
Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Advancement Programs
To streamline the promotion process for CRCs, the CRP Group established a standardized avenue for career advancement. The CRP group provides guidance documents, application and CV examples to review before applying.
Research Nurse Advancement Programs
The Research Nurse Leadership, with support from CRPLC, standardized the advancement process for all RNs at Cincinnati Children’s to allow improved recognition of nursing excellence and expanded career opportunities throughout the institution. The CRP group provides application guidance, including details on requirements and the submission process. It also matches applicants with mentors to help steer them through the process.
